Guess who's back???

My crappy phone camera doesn't do her justice.. she is a beaut
Found in the same hoarder's house as the Silent, this nasty Royal did not survive the years so well. It was unfortunately not covered like the Silent was, and all that grime got in the guts of the machine.

I must have gotten to excited, because I completely forgot to mention the history fair. My project? Technology as it advanced through the years.

Some of my most popular display items were typewriters, of course. The IBM in the center is non-functional, but visitors to my display were encouraged to try the Royal and Olympia on the sides.

All typewriters (and other artifacts, for that matter) used in my display were found in the school basement... the coolest part is that I got to keep the typewriters after the fair ended!

Why I collect (a deeper question than you would think!)

In my posts on this blog, I feel that I need to evolve. As any regular viewer would know, my posts are generally light and based mainly on the typewriters themselves. I have a much deeper personality than most of my blog could show, and so I wrote this. I hope to do some more long winded posts like this at some point, but they probably won't start to appear until the summer when I have more time on my hands to write a well thought out typecast.

Enjoy!

My first typewriter, a battered Royal FP with major skipping issues. I no longer own it, so this is the best picture I can provide.

Six Typewriters, One Post

January and February have been very generous to my collection! In just two short months I have acquired six new machines, and sold two. I decided that instead of making a multitude of posts, I'll just make one big one. Here they are, listed in no particular order. Enjoy!

#1. Generation 3000

#2. Royal Futura 800

#3. Tower Chieftain (Olivetti Lettera 22)

#4. Royal KHM

#5. Triumph Perfekt

(see my last post)

#6. Royal Apollo GT-12

A Triumphant Perfektion

PS: If you haven't noticed, the spam bots are back. I deleted all the comments I could except for one that you can see in the comment section here.

Surprises....!

*tab stop (instead of margin stop)
Once you get used to it, the outlandish angles and colors start to grow on you (especially when they aren't discolored!)

The trademark "salute" of the 3K's return lever

Ack. So it seems I am an excessive user of commas. Sorry for making you read through that, hopefully I'll get better at monitoring that.

No hint today, but is anyone able to identify this obscure Remington portable I saw in an antique mall this summer? No model markings to be found (but I do believe it says "Remington" on the paper table, though I do not remember).

Failure!

I got a few machines over break, so I hope to showcase them here soon. For now I leave you with one word: dropped

Not so fascinating Facit

I hope that comes off...

Now (after reading more on Facit) I have found that this machine may be a minor victim of the so-called "Facit problem", when these swedish typers get all stiff and (in bad cases) the carriage stops moving because of some strong oil used by the factory... or something along those lines. Though I am not sure how, I will try my best to un-stiffen this typer.
